Fleming’s Hotel

As we love to choose every time another hotel, we stayed also in Fleming’s Hotel, which is suited near Westbahnhof. The address of the Hotel is Neubaugürtel 26-28 1070 Wien. Fleming’s Hotel is a four-star hotel with a fitness room and wellness center.

It is a great starting point for explore the city. You are very near the shopping street Mariahilferstraße, which can be reached by feet. Over the street of Fleming’s is also a Tram station which you can use to get to different places of Vienna and the nearest Underground station is Westbahnhof, which you can use to get in the 1st District or to Schönbrunn palace.

The hotel does have some parking spaces, but they are usually full and you get advised to park in the Garage of the Arcotel Wimberger which is some meters away from Fleming’s Hotel, the costs of parking there are 19 EUR per day. The rooms are bright, large and the open shower is definitely an eye catcher.

We enjoyed the stay there. The personnel were friendly and compliant. The room was beautiful, bright and the open shower has been an adventure. The breakfast there is great and has a variety of food to offer. We were just sorry that we didn’t have the time to explore the fitness room and the wellness center in the house. To sum up, the hotel has made a good impression and we definitely recommend it.

1,2,3 WHAT DO I SEE? – TIERGARTEN SCHÖNBRUNN

Vienna Zoo – Tiergarten Schönbrunn is as the name says suited in the Schönbrunn palace. Part of the imperial summer residence of Schönbrunn, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s oldest zoo is absolutely an adventure to see. In order to reach the main entrance to the zoo please use the park entrance gate „Hietzinger Tor“. If you are travelling by public transport, the zoo can be reached by the following routes: U4 (underground): Station Hietzing, Tramway: 10, 58, 60 and Bus: 10A, 51A, 56A, 56B, 58A. If you are traveling by car there is a parking lot in front of Schönbrunn.

The Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. 365 days a year. Closing time varies according to the seasons and is between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The ticket office closes 30 minutes before closing time. From A as in anteater to Z as in zebra: A visit to the Schönbrunn Zoo is a tour through every continent in the fascinating world of animals. See giant pandas, Siberian tigers, orangutans, and elephants, or immerse yourself in the Amazon and experience the tropical rain forest. A visit to the zoo offers young and old alike an enjoyable vacation in an incomparable setting and interesting insights into our nature and species conservation work.

For us it was a family trip. Our little one enjoyed the little wagon the most although the zoo offers a variety of playgrounds for the kids. The wagon can be borrowed in the zoo, therefore is also a caution to pay, which you get back by returning the wagon. As there are so many animals there we absolutely enjoyed to stay there almost a half of the day. As said it really is enjoyable for young and old alike.

UNO CITY

After our morning coffee we decided to visit the “UNO City”. UNO City is situated in the 22. District –Donaustadt and it’s easily reachable from the center of Vienna with Metro U1, station: Kaisermühlen – VIC.

High buildings of the UNO City are simply fascinating. They are really the opposite to the “classic” Vienna. It’s construction began in 1973 and it’s still developing. Hiding behind these skyscrapers you’ll find a large park, stretching all the way to the river, called “the Donau Park”. It offers many open fields, walkways, play toys for children and of course the famous “Donauturm”.

We’ve visited it in the morning and were able to enjoy peaceful long walk in the park all the way to the river Danube. We’ve been enjoying the walk so much that we’ve decided not to return to the U1 station where we’ve arrived but walked towards the picturesque station U1 – “Donauinsel” reachable under the “Reichsbrücke”.

The park is peaceful and definitely worth a visit if you want to chill and enjoy the nature. We absolutely enjoyed it.

Donauwalzer Hotel

At one of our visits of Vienna we stayed at the hotel Donauwalzer. A hotel with the slogan 3-star hotel with 4-star service and 5-star charm.

The boutique Hotel is situated at the Ottakringer str. 5 The nearest underground station is two blocks up Alser Straße, the nearest public transport is the Tram no. 44.

The hotel is situated at a very frequent Viennese Gürtel Street and that at night and at day. We had a room to the street side and I must say that we didn’t have much sleep. We visited the hotel at summer and there is no air conditioning. To cool down the room we had to open the windows, which at night was because of the noise impossible. The room is average size and the furniture is old-fashioned. The hotel gives much attention on details. The breakfast buffet is good and offers a lot of variety. But you have to be in the mood to make pancakes and eggs by yourself. The best impression has made the reception. The receptionist was polite, efficient and quick. To sum up, the hotel has its charm and maybe is the best time to stay there in winter, at least in summer we wouldn’t go back there.
