Body shop – love to visit this shop in Vienna

As often as we get to Vienna I love to have a stop in my favorite shop – Body shop. It’s not only that I love their products, but it also turned out that they fit best with my skin. So, that is also why, I get out of this shop every time with a bag full of products.

When I started to use their products, I couldn’t get around the history of the company and their aims. Their story started in Brighton, England in 1976. Where the founder Dame Anita Roddick began mixing her own products and infusing them with a new idea. They take care in sourcing the best suppliers globally for all their products and use strict ethical guidelines when choosing a supplier, while their products are made in several countries around the globe.

My favorite shop in Vienna is the one in the first district. I always love to shop there, because the store is large and it offers a variety of different products. The staff there is friendly and always willing to help.

Mediterranean cuisine in the heart of Vienna

If you’re visiting Vienna’s historical 1st District and feel hungry, we can advise you to visit the charming restaurant located at “Judenplatz”, only a few minutes walk away from the main shopping streets.

Ellas Judenplatz Location

Restaurant Ellas Judenplatz Vienna

There is more to say about the “Judenplatz” square itself.  Although situated in the first district it’s a bit hidden and therefore with not as many tourists around and secondly, it hosts the “Holocaust Memorial” https://www.ikg-wien.at/memorials/?lang=en.

The restaurant is owned by Lefteris Dermitzakis. While enjoying the food, you’ll feel the charm of Greek hospitality and will be surrounded by Mediterranean flair. If you want to be sure they will have a place for you, you can reserve the table at http://www.ellas.at/

When the days are warm enough, we advise you to enjoy your meal at their terrace, surrounded by olive trees. It’s not hard to understand that we enjoyed our time there.

So, relax and have a taste of Mediterranean coastal dishes.

Fleming’s Hotel

As we love to choose every time another hotel, we stayed also in Fleming’s Hotel, which is suited near Westbahnhof. The address of the Hotel is Neubaugürtel 26-28 1070 Wien. Fleming’s Hotel is a four-star hotel with a fitness room and wellness center.

It is a great starting point for explore the city. You are very near the shopping street Mariahilferstraße, which can be reached by feet. Over the street of Fleming’s is also a Tram station which you can use to get to different places of Vienna and the nearest Underground station is Westbahnhof, which you can use to get in the 1st District or to Schönbrunn palace.

The hotel does have some parking spaces, but they are usually full and you get advised to park in the Garage of the Arcotel Wimberger which is some meters away from Fleming’s Hotel, the costs of parking there are 19 EUR per day. The rooms are bright, large and the open shower is definitely an eye catcher.

We enjoyed the stay there. The personnel were friendly and compliant. The room was beautiful, bright and the open shower has been an adventure. The breakfast there is great and has a variety of food to offer. We were just sorry that we didn’t have the time to explore the fitness room and the wellness center in the house. To sum up, the hotel has made a good impression and we definitely recommend it.

Centimeter

One of the things everybody links directly to Vienna is »Viennese Schnitzel« or “Wiener Schnitzel”. So why to resist the temptation and not to try »Viennese Schnitzel« while in Vienna.

Our choice was restaurant chain “Centimeter”. Its restaurants opened in 1996 and are located on various locations in Vienna:

  • Centimeter I at City Hall, Lenaugasse 11
  • Centimeter II at Spitellberg, Stiftgasse 4
  • Centimeter VI Gersthof, Gersthoferstraße 51 and
  • Centimeter VII in Stadtbahnbogen, Währinger Gürtel 1 / Ecke Jörgerstraße.

Their specialities are home-made food, bread measuring one meter and of course huge steaks.

Our destination was “Centimeter II” due to its location near the famous shopping street »Mariahilferstraße«. The food is delicious, whatever you order. Portions of course are measured in centimeters, and thus very large. If you are not particular eater, we recommend you to split a portion in two. For us this was more than enough.

My recommendation would be mixed salad, with its »home taste« which I love to order every time we are there. Service is fast and very helpful; the prices are moderate, so you get two mixed salads and steak with French fries and drinks for about 20 euros.
